Why Google Wave is making Waves!

You will agree with me when I say that the influence of a company like Google is undeniable. If you have ever done a search on any of the many search engines around the internet, chances are that you have used the services of Google. However, its influence will be felt even further when the company launches some of the products, which it says are still in the oven. As the web becomes more and more personalized, it is not surprising that Google are also following the same trend. With the recent launch of their web browser Google Chrome, expect to see more from the company. The web is taking on a whole new turn and as it expands, it will be necessary to find a way to sort out relevant and irrelevant content, from a user’s perspective. Assuming that Google goes this way, which it will have to if it is to remain at the top of the heap, I assume we are going to have what I shall call, in this context, Your Google.

Already we are seeing some emergence of Your Google in upcoming Google products. One of the products that are having a lot of excitement in the tech world is Google Wave. What is Google Wave and will it be path-breaking? Is it going to change how the internet works today?  This new in-browser is a collaboration as well as a communication tool that may well usher in a new evolution in email. This real-time communication platform combines aspects of email, web chat, instant messaging, social networking and project management into one elegant, communication client embedded into your browser. Your Google experience is going to change the way you work and play on the web.

The whole idea of Google Wave was to have a more interactive, live and on-the-fly mode of communication. Your Google experience will no longer be based on the rules and methods of the current email standards and will incorporate a hybrid of instant messaging and that of the email. If two people are logged on, they open up a conversation portal called a wave. However, unlike current IM software, with Your Google wave, you will be able to see every letter your partner is typing on the other side and write back instantaneously. If the recipient is offline, they will receive their wave in their inbox. What is even exciting is that developers will be able to build their own applications within waves similar to what you see on Facebook.

Clearly, open source just took on a whole new turn and your Google experience is abound to be wave-changing.
