How to change folder background in windows xp
 
Create a folder in desktop (Every where you can create it).Just right click on desktop and select new folder.
 
 
Then right click on the folder you created and go to properties.
 
 
There click on customize tab and below click on change icon.
 
 
 Select any icon and Click OK
 
 
Then double click on the folder and open it.
Go to tool and click on folder options.
 
 
Select View tab.
 

There you select Show hidden files and folders and Deselct  below options

  • Hide extension for know file types
  • Hide protected operating system files(recommended)
Note:One you deselect hide protected operating system files (recommended) you will
get a message as shown below.Just clik on Yes
 
 
And Click on Apply and OK
 
Then,you will get  file desktop.ini. file
 

Double clik on it and paste the below texts without inverted commas

[ExtShellFolderViews]
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}=
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
IconArea_Image=
 
 
Note:Here
is the path of the photo you want to make as a folder background.
You can change it according to where you saved the photo.

Then save it and refresh once and open the folder.

G8!! Now you have done the magic
 
 
Finally, to remove the default icon chosen during the creation of the desktop.ini and restore the default folder icon, Double click on desktop.ini file and delete these lines of code from within the desktop.ini file:
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=%SystemRoot%system32shell32.dll
IconIndex=(some number)

Now you can hide desktop.ini file by going tools-folder options- view tab- and check options

  • Do not show hidden files.
  • Hide extension for know file types
  • Hide protected operating system files(recommended)
